When you travel to Walt Disney World do you travel to Epcot with a toddler?  I’ve had many Disney first time guests ask me if Epcot is a waste of time with a toddler.  My answer is always no!  We took our youngest son to Epcot when he was 22 months old and again at 32 months old.  He loved Epcot!  We didn’t spend as much time strolling around the World Showcase as we usually do, but it gave us a great time for him to nap in the stroller.

Here are my top attractions and things to do with a toddler at Epcot, based on my son’s experiences:

  1. Spaceship Earth– My son loved the slow pace of this attraction, the animatronics, the lights at the end, going backwards AND the video at the end of the ride.  He wanted to ride over and over, both trips!
  2. Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros– We were very familiar with Donald Duck because of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  Seeing Donald’s adventures in Mexico was great for my little guy.  He also loved the boat.
  3. Living with the Land– Surprisingly, he loved this attraction.  I didn’t expect it at all. He enjoyed the boat ride going from inside to “outside” and loved seeing the fish.
  4. The Seas with Nemo and Friends– This attraction was made for toddlers!  While there were a few “scary fish” in the deep part of the ocean, he loved it.  Nemo is a favorite at our house.
  5. Journey into Imagination with Figment & ImageWorks– While this attraction is not as wonderful as it was when I was a child, my son doesn’t know the difference and he enjoys Figment and the slow moving ride talking about the 5 senses.  He especially liked the ImageWorks at the end where he could create music and make silly pictures.
  6. Character Spot(s)- While there is really only one “Character Spot” where you can meet the Fab Five characters with minimal lines in Future World, we love ALL areas where we can meet characters!  Throughout the World Showcase you can find characters who have connections to each country.
  7. Kidcot Fun Stop Stations– These World Showcase stations were still a bit over my son’s head when we were there last.  He didn’t understand the connections to the countries.  He just liked coloring on the Duffy bear cutout.  It was a good distraction for him when the rest of the family wanted to look at other things in the country pavilions.
  8. The Friendship Boats– Can you see a theme?  My son likes boats!  He enjoyed riding across the World Showcase Lagoon in the Friendship Boats.
  9. The trains at Germany– We spent quite a bit of time toddling through the miniature city at Germany looking at the train set.  While my youngest son was watching the train, my older son was searching for lizards perched on rooftops!
  10. Musicians around the World Showcase– My son actually danced his way through World Showcase when he wasn’t sleeping!  He loved the Mariachi Cobre Band in Mexico, the Spirit of America Fife & Drum Corps in America, Matsuriza in Japan, The British Revolution in the UK, and Mo’Rockin at Morocco!

While not as many rides as say the Magic Kingdom, Epcot is still a place that many toddlers love. If anything this is a great place to let your kids get out and explore. After a few hours of exploring they will be ready for a nap in no time 😉

What does your toddler enjoy at Epcot?  I’d love to hear in the comments!

  1. I agree. Your list is right on target. Since my son was 2 1/2 his favorite park has been Epcot. We go at least once a year and when at home, he is always asking when we can go to Epcot again. I’m excited now that he is 5 (and tall enough) I can introduce Soarin’ and Test Track to him.
