A significant overhaul is in store for The Great Movie Ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and it seems the removal of the Sorcerers Hat is no longer without reason. Disney has partnered with Turner Classic Movies to revamp the attraction and with the hat gone the attraction is now poised to reclaim it’s place as the parks landmark icon once again.
Disney along with help from TCM will be making the changes to update the attraction sometime in early 2015. Reports say the changes will focus on the attractions pre-show as well as its finale. In return TCM will be basically be named as a sponsor, or presenter of the ride and their logo featured on posters, banners, display windows, and marquees.
The deal also includes a programing block for Disney on the TMC channel under the name “Treasures From the Disney Vault” where they with air classic Disney movies, cartoons, documentaries and episodes of “Disneyland” and “Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color.” The initial block of Disney programming by TCM is to run from 8 p.m., Eastern time, on Dec. 21 through 5:15 a.m. on Dec. 22.
Disney is said to be making an official announcement about the deal on Wednesday.
