There have been some Star Wars rumors floating around the galaxy lately. One of the most recent was the possibly Obi-Wan Kenobi film being in the works. The most recent rumor… could Billy Dee Williams be returning to Star Wars? According to Fantha Tracks, the answer could be yes!
Billy Dee Williams could be returning to Star Wars Episode IX as our favorite Lando Calrissian. Fantha Tracks indeed confirmed this with an independent source, which was not named.
Official confirmation of this exciting casting could be coming very soon as filming begins on Episode IX next month.
Back to the other rumor regarding Obi-Wan Kenobi film in the works, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed in a piece released that a Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi film is in the works with filmmaker Stephen Daldry in early talks to direct the latest project.
Sources say that the film is in its earliest stages and currently has no script. However, if it comes to fruition it would join one of several other films being developed by Lucasfilm and Disney that fall outside of the trilogies. The Han Solo movie is not nearing its final stages of shooting with new director Ron Howard at the helm. According to the Hollywood Reporter Lucasfilm is also considering movies centering on Yoda and Boba Fett. The role of Obi-Wan Kenobi was originated by Alec Guiness with Ewan McGregor going on to assume the role during the George Lucas- directed prequel films. According to the Hollywood Reporter, McGregor is open to reprising the role though sources stress that the project is in such early stages that no actors are currently attached to film.
