Review: Disney Food Blog Mini Guide to the 2012 Food and Wine Festival

AJ Wolfe who writes Disneyfoodblog.com does not disappoint when it comes to the Disney Food Blog Mini Guide to the 2012 Food and Wine Festival. This guide  is an absolute must have for anyone touring the Food and Wine Festival for the first time or the tenth. There is an abundance of information on this downloadable resource and readers will feel they have spent their money wisely on this purchase.

Using the mini guide to tour the Food and Wine Festival was a huge help. I knew what the menus were ahead of time and had a clear idea of which foods and beverages I wanted to sample. I was also able to use the recommendations in the book for some must try foods that I would not have otherwise ordered. We toured every booth at the festival and either had a drink or a snack and many of our choices were based on the guides recommendations. I enjoyed the griddled cheese in Greece and the Pork Sliders in Hawaii the most and those were two things that I am not sure I would have tried without the guide.

These Pork Sliders in Hawaii were awesome!!

The mini guide has everything you need to know about touring the food and wine festival. There are event calendars including costs of seminars and what will be included in special experiences. You can read reviews of past functions and really make and educated decision about which things you may want to participate in. There is a schedule for the Eat to the Beat concert series and as a bonus AJ even includes the top three songs from each artist and links to download them! This was a fabulous idea as some of the acts are older, but reading the song lists brings them to the forefront of your memory.

The guide does not miss a beat and even has seating suggestions. Using the guide, I was able to find a shady less crowded area to eat in the Japan Pavilion. I would not have known about this little gem if I had not had the book.

I read the guide on the plane on the way to Orlando and highlighted the things that I knew would apply to me. This was a great way to do this. The guide is an easy read and give you direct no-nonsense information. We felt like we had a really good handle on the events that would be taking place and the offerings at the kiosks before we even walked into Epcot which ended up being a huge help!

On the suggestion of the guide, our first stop was the Festival Center located in Future World where I was extremely excited to visit the Ghiradelli booth. I got free samples of chocolate  and checked out the intricate and amazing chocolate sculptures. This was extremely different and very interesting. I would not have made this stop without reading about it in the book.

Finding Nemo Chocolate Sculpture

The section I loved most of all were the “crawls” that they provided. These are like mini touring plans for eating around the world! They have one for Vegetarians, one for desserts, one for eating something from each continent, one for the most popular foods,  and one for carnivores to name a few! These are a such a good idea and let you get a sampling foods and beverages!

This guide is a must have for anyone thinking about touring the Food and Wine Festival. A true value!
