Many of you may recognize the new Rapid Fill mugs from Walt Disney World.
F.Y.I. The new colors are, Green, Purple, and Orange. So we finally get new colors but the same design, I guess you can’t get everything you want.
I was at Port Orleans French Quarter recently and I got a chance to use the new system and I also asked some Cast Members about the new system and I tried to get as much as info as possible for my fellow Disney Addicts.
I got a paper cup with an RFID chip in it. With that cup you can only get 3 refills in an hour. The refill amount was very true because the digital screen on the front of the soda machine will tell you how many refills you have left. However I did not take notice to the time limit because we were gone in under an hour. I think the limited refills and especially the time limit is a bit much, but I do see their point. A CM told me that there have been no problems with the system as far she knows. She said she heard the time limits may change at some point in the future but not the amount of refills. I think if enough people complain they may change the time limits.
One big thing I noticed is the the Coffee, Tea, and Hot Cocoa have no RFID Reader. So that means they are unlimited. Of course water and ice are free with no limits and you can use any cup.
My daughter noticed that a few people were struggling with the new system. She helped someone learn how to use the new system because there are no signs as to how the system works. As long as you put the cup/mug on the bottom black part, where the reader is, than your drink will dispense with no problem.
I did see people mixing different types of soda. I know a lot of people were wondering about that. I also noticed that no one had an older mug, like I normally see at the resorts. Everyone had the new mugs.
So it seems as though the system is going just as planned, so far.
Did you have a different experience at another resort? What are your feelings on the new system?
Wishing you Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust

I definitely agree with you on the limited colors! Assuming the average family is 4-5 people (and that’s not even counting the thousands who visit each year as part of a large family reunion) they really should add other colors!
We’re still only a family of two (my husband and I) and I wanted the teal-ish blue (my favorite color is teal) so he was automatically stuck with black b/c neither of us wanted pink on our last trip! 🙂
When we were at POP Century last week we had ALOT of people using the older cups. And even some cups that were not Disney at all. The cups were scanned as if the chips were activated but the system was not up and running yet as of Labor Day, so we did not get to see how it works. I was annoyed with how many people were using other cups to drink out of. I’m glad that they are doing something but don’t like the time constrain. It’s not that much in the cup as is and on really hot days by the pool it’s easy to fill up a few times in an hour. I also think since most families traveling are a family of 4 they should def have more colors so its easier to tell whose is whose. Me and my son switched our tops so they could be different.
