Paper Fastpasses going away at the Walt Disney World Resort starting next week

fastpass

Starting next week paper fastpasses will no longer be available at all Walt Disney World Parks. Over the past few weeks Disney has been eliminating them from the Animal Kingdom & Magic Kingdom parks.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios will transition from the paper fastpass system to FastPass+ on January 21st, and Epcot will follow suit on January 23rd, 2014. This will complete the FastPass+ rollout for all guests at all Walt Disney World theme parks.

The change over should proceed like the previous parks where offsite guests will make their 3 FastPass+ selections at one of the park kiosks stations. Reports from twitter and even over in our Disney Addict group show long lines to get to a kiosk machines, so be prepared. Also please note that you will not have access to advanced reservations if you are staying off site.

If you are onsite you can still make your Fastpass+ reservations as normal. You can see where staying on site is starting to pay off. I am not crazy about the tiered system when making your Fastpass+ selections. You should be able to select any there you want, instead of 1 E-ticket or big name Ride/Attraction and 2 smaller selections.

We want to hear what you think? Are you sad Disney is eliminating the old paper fastpass tickets? Have you had a chance to try the new system? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.

  1. This is sad! Have been saving for quite a while and finally get my boys a trip to Disney. they are 11 and 13…Like 4 years in the making!!! Going value style by staying off site…Knowing we wont spend time in our room…. so that I will have more spending money on site.. and this is what we get 🙁 sad and little annoyed!!!!

  2. I think the tiered system is ridiculous. If I want to fast pass BY MR twice or three timesI should be allowed to do that if I so choose. Being a premium AP, I don’t want to be told how to structure my day based on only being allowed 3 fastpasses. What if I don’t want to fp any of the lower tiered rides? That’s taking away my right and my family’s right of how we spend our day. It’s wrong. My husband loves to go to Disney as a stress reliever and this makes it more stressful because its as if we have to plan out our day more. And we go frequently. This isn’t right.

  3. This is ridiculous. Whether you stay off or on site you are still paying the same outrageous amount to enter the park. Everyone should have access to reserve fast passes in advance. I refuse to stay in the park when I can stay within walking distance, in a two bedroom, 2 1/2 bath, full kitchen, full laundry condo for $109 a night. We get to stay for 10 days instead of 5. The buses and transportation aren’t a bonus. I get to and from parks and resorts in less than half the time you spend on a bus.

  4. We used the system during a very low key week right before Thanksgiving. FP+ worked great. But I can see where it would be a problem during busy periods. I’m not one who will wait in line any longer than 20 minutes.
