Last night we reported about an incident that happened at Disney Springs. It was originally reported by several news stations that there were shots fired, but it turns out it was just an altercation that resulted in the Orange County Sheriff’s Office being called. (Read about it here)
The fight was caused by 70 year old Luis Antonio Ojeda-Reyes, who resides in Putnam County Florida. The disturbance occured at Bongos Cuban Cafe just a little after 9:30 pm on December 25th. Mr. Ojeda-Reyes was very bothered by the wait time for his food at Bongos due to the Christmas crowds and when he complained to management he was not happy with the answer he received.
Mr. Ojeda-Reyes starting pushing, hitting and cursing at one of the managers and another manager came over to try and calm him down and he threw his hat on the table and yelled, “I don’t f*****g want anyone apologizing,” and “f**k this,” the Police report states is what started the chaos. At some point in the all the chaos people thought they heard gunshots and started yelling “gun gun” which caused people to run out, almost causing a riot. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is still not sure why people thought they heard gunshots. Bongos employees said no shots were fired, and Sheriff’s found no weapon on him at the time of his arrest. He is being charged with battery.

I think putting in metal detectors has made people think there was a credible threat, that people have been trying to bring guns into the parks, and it’s just on their minds now, so they were overly sensitive and their imaginations got the best of them. Such a shame this happened. I understand the frustration the man felt, but he let it get the best of him, and terrified and abused people on Christmas. Unacceptable.
