Merida Meet Greet

Have you been looking forward to meeting Merida at Disney World ever since you first saw “Brave”?  This courageous star’s play and greet area is full of fun for young and old alike.  It is definitely worth a visit during your trip to Disney.

Meeting Merida at Disney World is a fabulous character meet and greet, but it can be tricky to find!  Merida meets princes and princesses in Fairytale Gardens.  Despite looking at the park maps we still had a hard time finding it!  Here’s the gist of finding your way to meet Merida.  While standing in the hub, facing the castle, take the path to the right of the Castle that leads to Fantasyland toward the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.  Just past the castle on the left, nestled among the Scottish Highlands is our brave princess, Merida.

Be sure to arrive early to meet Merida!  By the time we discovered her the line was just around 40 minutes towards the end of the day.  My advice is to head towards Fantasyland, meet Merida, then hit up the Mad Tea Party, grab a FastPass for Peter Pan’s Flight and enjoy Fantasyland.

Why is this play and greet so worthwhile you may ask?  First, they have lots of activities to keep the kids busy!  Kids can color on a great stone table while they wait to meet the princess.  (Or, if they are toddlers, there’s a bench that is right at toddler level that some of Merida’s friends will direct you to!)

As if that wasn’t enough to keep the kids entertained while they wait, they have a bow & arrow shooting lesson!  Not only do you get to meet Merida, but you get to experience a part of her life!  How cool is that?

Don’t forget, if you have the My Disney Experience App you can always check when Merida will be available to play and greet.  Or grab a handy Times Guide at the entrance, under the train station, to find out whether the Queen has scheduled time for her to play.  Merida was so sweet, especially with the younger kids!  She always got down on their level.  And she is the only one who got my fiery two year old to hold her hand!  Meeting Merida at Disney World is a must do in our books!  How about yours?
