Back at D23, Marvel Comics and Walt Disney Imagineering was teasing “Something Weird” at the Imagineer’s Pavilion. Now, we finally know an answer to what this weird new thing actually is, and it’s very cool! Marvel Comics and Walt Disney Imagineering have come together to create a new comic series titled ‘Disney Kingdoms’, which is being made in close collaboration with the Imagineers, promises to take fans of the the Disney Parks into exciting new adventures based on attractions, characters, and lands in the Disney Parks.
The first issue of the new series, titled Seekers of the Weird, is already incredibly intriguing to me, because it’ll be based around an attraction that never happened, Museum of the Weird. Many fans know this was an attraction that was supposed to be a strange and fascinating walk through where you could find different oddities and curiosities from across the world. Museum of the Weird was going to be a companion to the Haunted Mansion, but never happened, but has lived on in legend to many Disney fans. So to see the Museum finally brought to life, by Marvel Comics no less, is an incredible exciting and fun idea to me! The first issue will be available in January, and will be a five part mini series. I’m so excited to see how this all comes together, and I can’t wait to see this new side of the Disney Universe, through the eyes of Marvel Comics.

Marvel & Disney are proud to present your first look at Disney Kingdoms: Seekers of the Weird #1, the first comic series published under the all-new Disney Kingdoms banner! Created in close partnership with designers, producers, and creative directors from Walt Disney Imagineering, the Disney Kingdoms line promises new and exciting adventures expanding upon already beloved lands, attractions, characters, and worlds of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.
This January, experience the first all-new adventure inspired by Disney’s legendary – but never constructed – Museum of the Weird! Dreamed up by famous Imagineer Rolly Crump in 1965, the Museum of the Weird was home to a collection of mystical curiosities said to have been unearthed from all corners of the globe. Originally conceived as a spooky walk-through attraction connected to the Haunted Mansion, Crump’s innovative designs were left on the drawing board following the passing of Walt Disney….until now!
