One of my all time favorite comics is finally headed to the big screen, courtesy of Marvel Comics, and I couldn’t be more excited! It seems that the promotional campaign for the film is beginning to take full swing, because Marvel Studios has released the first official image for the film, as well as as the film’s synopsis. The film, which is slated for August 1, 2014, stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Batista, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillian, Benecio del Toro, and Vin Diesel. The film looks on expanding the Marvel universe to its cosmic side, leaving Earth and Asgard behind for an offbeat space adventure, directed by James Gunn. Check out the synopsis and still below. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits — Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand — with the galaxy’s fate in the blanace.
