According to the Orlando Sentinel a Animal Kingdom park guest found a loaded handgun on Disney’s Dinosaur ride. It seems the gun fell out of Angelo Lista, of Royal Palm Beach back pocket.

A park guest handed a Cobra .380-caliber semiautomatic pistol to a park attendant, who immediately contacted security and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Angelo didn’t realize he had the firearm in his pocket after getting off the ride according to a Sheriff’s Office incident report.

  1. A permit to carry a gun “assumes” you are not an idiot. What kind of an IDIOT would think it was ok to carry a loaded weapon in his back pocket into an amusement park crowded with children!

  2. It isn’t commonly known, but you CAN check a legal handgun before you enter the parks. (although you are not supposed to have it in the parking lot…). Disney has security and a reaction team that can anywhere quickly (access from “underneath”)…so you really don’t need a sidearm IN the parks. That makes sense, since what looks like a solid backstop may actually be a foam prop, with a thousand people on the other side that you don’t even know are there.

The rest of Orlando, on the other hand…

  3. He had a concealed carry permit. He had it in his pocket. Did not realize that Disney does NOT allow weapons & left immediately when security asked him to. No crime was committed other than lack of forethought.

  4. Disney technically does not allow firearms. If you are found to be in possession of a firearm, Disney security will ask you to check it with them for the rest of your visit. If you refuse, and then refuse to leave the park, you can be arrested for trespassing and banned from Disney for life. I wouldn’t bother carrying there…it’s really a very safe place.

As for not knowing you’d left it behind…on top of carrying in a pocket without a proper pocket holster…PLAIN OLD STUPIDITY. I cannot abide careless gun owners. They give law-abiding, responsible gun owners a REALLY BAD IMAGE.

This type of thing seems to happen in Florida a lot…a woman recently shot her friend in the knee while rifling through her purse (pun intended), in which she had forgotten she had the (loaded and un-safetied) gun. In that case, she did not have a license to carry concealed.

  5. Disney does not have metal detectors installed. And they shouldn’t. They do have hundreds of undercover security roaming the park and more security cameras than a Las Vegas casino.

  6. Are people allowed to take guns into Disney?!! Why doesn’t it say he was arrested? Isn’t that what they are checking for when they check our bags? So its ok if its in your pocket?? He’s lucky it didnt go off and take out some of his important parts LOL

  7. I can’t believe disney allows you to carry firearms into a park. This is a family destination, what would you possibly need a firearm for????????

  8. How could you not realize you had a loaded gun in your pocket?? He should be arrested! How did he get it inside the park? You have to go through inspections. I guess they don’t check pockets though. Well they should put people through a metal detector then! Some kid could have picked it up and shot someone!

  9. I believe you mean “Angelo didn’t realize he NO LONGER had the firearm in his pocket after getting off the ride according to a Sheriff’s Office incident report.” 😉

Aside from my opinion that you shouldn’t feel the need to have a firearm at Disney, I DO find it disturbing that he’s carrying it in his pocket, rather than a proper holster.
