Lion King Creators Surprise Guests At “Festival Of The Lion King” At Animal Kingdom

Be Prepared! The re-release of The Lion King into the Walt Disney Signature Collection happens tomorrow. Fan’s of one of Disney’s most popular films can pick up a copy on Blu-Ray and DVD with special never seen before extras. With so much to celebrate you need to mark the occasion right?

Voice Actor Ernie Sabella (Pumbba), Producer Don Hahn and Co-Director Ron Minkoff decided that the perfect way to celebrate was to surprise guests Disney’s Animal Kingdom  during a performance if the “Festival of the Lion King”. Ernie came out before the show began to give the audience a friendly “Hakuna Matata!”

After the show the Sabella, Hahn, and Minkoff all gave high praise for the show’s African cultural elements which were all extremely important to them when creating the film.

“Borrowing from so much great culture that exists in Africa, not only musically but visually, was something we certainly did for the film and to see it translated into a live show is terrific.” Ron said.

“The Lion King: The Walt Disney Signature Collection” is now available on digital and arrives on Blu-Ray/DVD on August 29.
