In-room DIY Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Makeover

I have LOVED make up ever since I was a little girl.  I remember my boyfriend in Kindergarten gave me a faux makeup kit.  With no actual makeup payoff , even down to the fake nail polish, I was slightly offended.  I remember pretending to put on the pressed shadows.  Even as a little kid, I wanted the real deal.  Imaginary blue and pretend pink didn’t stand a chance against real glitter and glam!

You can guess that I was more than irritated when the Bibbidi Bobbidi  Boutique made its debut after my childhood.  There has been many a day where I have considered asking if they carried adult sizes.  But, alas they do not.  So now, I am forced to sit and anxiously await the day when I have  a little girl of my own to experience the magic of a Disney makeover with!  I was recently talking with a friend whose daughter has had the whole experience including the princess gown, accessories, hair, makeup, and nails.  While they enjoyed the experience, they hesitated doing it again for the cost.  There are lots of great ideas on doing  the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on a budget.  From choosing the right package to bringing your own dress from home, there are a lot of ways to do the boutique without breaking the bank!

Today, I propose for your consideration the idea of doing a little “in room DIY boutique makeover”.  If you are like me and LOVE all things makeup or if you just really want to save a dime, then this is the solution for your Bibbidi Bobbidi needs.  It all starts with a little magic that goes something like this…Sala-gadoola-menchicka-boo-la bibbidi-bobbidi-boo!

Bring your own dress

Dresses purchased from past trips to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, Disney Store/Outlet, or costume store of your choice work perfectly.  Bringing  a dress from home will cut down on cost, plus you won’t have to waste time shopping for one when you could be in the parks.  Most dresses will pack easily in your luggage and not take up too much room.  Don’t forget to consider the weather…there is nothing more pitiful than a little princess all overheated!

Hair and makeup is essential

I wouldn’t go overboard on hair and makeup.  I am personally a fan of a little bit goes a long way, when it comes to the little ones.  I’m not really a fan of the tight buns and fake hair featrued at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique so, I would probably opt for a ballerina bun or half up half down and all curled look.  Any rate, a think a bit of blush, eyeshadow, and gloss will do the trick.  You can find cute Disney themed makeup sets online and in stores or you can hit up your local drug store.  I love that doing a DIY will allow for the fun to continue past the boutique.  Just think of how many times you can DIY a little Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo magic of your own at home!

Glitter is a MUST

As an adult who has had the privilege of being glitterized by the fabulous fairy godmother’s of the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, I can say that experience cannot be missed.  In fact, I would recommend every princess have this experience at least once in a lifetime.  I think glitter is an absolute requirement.  I’ve searched high and low for the one of those glitter wands and I cannot find one.  So what to do when you’re doing a DIY version?  Cosmetic grade glitter and glitter hair spray will do the trick!  (Quick tip: stock up on after Halloween sales) Glitter them up and go!

A Princess Must Have Shoes!

Of course, a princess must have shoes, but not those clickety clackety cheap high heals.  Don’t forget to pack comfy, park appropriate shoes.  Shoes that will make your princess’ tootsies feel like royalty!

Make it Special!

So with all this DIY saving, you can afford to buy an accessory for your little princess.  Swing by a store once in the parks and pick up some princess themed jewelry, a wand, or crown.  That will be sure to satisfy your little one!

So, do you do any other Disney DIY projects or do treat yourself?  I like a good mix…sometimes we all can use a little pampering!  What kinds of Disney DIY do you do?  List your tips and tricks below!

  1. Great post. When we took our dtr to the BBB, we brought our own dress. It was one I picked up on sale at the Disney store in Canada. It was Tinkerbell’s white dress when she became a fairy. It kind of looked like white dandelion fluff. The greatest part was that because it had never been sold in the parks (according to a pile of cast memebers who said they’d never seen it before) our little Tinkerbell got tons of attention. We’ve also done the hair and make-up in the room and had just as much fun. We did however pick up some fake pink hair at the BBB and just did it on our own. Tons of Fun, thanks again!

  2. You may also check out the Barber Shop, tucked in beside the Fire House (Sorcers of the Kingdom) at the front of Main Street in the Magic Kingdom, they do a glitter package for around $5.00. The ladies there do a great job and we had no wait…we loved it and the kids got stares all day and though it was cool. We like the Pirate League but this was much cheaper and faster..even though Pirate League is great fun, but can do that everyday..
