Lucasfilm and Disney’s Indiana Jones 5 release date has officially been pushed back to 2021, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The original release date was set for July 10, 2020 but because of script issues, production was delayed. When Indiana Jones 5 was first announced by Disney and Lucasfilm in March 2016, it was given a release date of July 19, 2019, but last year, it was pushed back to a July 10, 2020, release date. There will also be a new writer for the fifth installment of the Indiana Jones franchise, Jonathan Kasdan. Kasdan is the son of Raiders of the Lost Ark scripter Lawrence Kasdan.
Harrison Ford, the 75-year-old actor, will be returning to his role as Indiana Jones.
Disney’s chairman Alan Horn said in a statement:
“Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019. It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor, and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.”
