Child Neglect at Art of Animation

After what witnesses have described as a “drunken tirade” through Disney’s Art of Animation and accusations of child abuse, a man visiting Walt Disney World from Ohio has now been arrested on charges of child neglect.

Brian Keith Olmstead, a 35 year old father from Brunswick, Ohio, started his Sunday at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports with his family for a cheerleading competition. After having a couple of drinks he then left with his youngest son around 3:30 p.m. and returned to their resort. According to his arrest affidavit, Olmstead began using his child’s stroller to plow through crowds at Art of Animation using racial slurs as he pushed through.

Witnesses told deputies that Olmstead then proceeded to sit at the poolside bar with his child in the stroller next to him and drink himself into “a state of intoxication”.

The resort manager confirmed that Olmstead was then escorted back to his room, only to return to the food court area, where several people complained he was threatening them with violence. The manager also stated that they had received at least 11 complaints over the course of four hours about Olmstead.

When deputies arrived they found that Olmstead’s son had been sitting in his soiled diaper for hours and his legs and feet were badly sunburned. Reedy Creek paramedics reported that the child suffered first-degree burns, which they believe will turn into second-degree burns because had started turning purple.

Deputies then removed Olmstead and put him inside an Orange County Sheriff’s Office patrol car. On the way to jail Olmstead proceeded to repeatedly call the officer names and said that Donald Trump was going to kill him. He was then booked on a child neglect charge and held on $2,200 bond Monday night.

According to News 6, this is not Olmstead’s first encounter with the law. He had previously been arrested on DUI, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct in Ohio.
