Move over Hermione Granger…Emma Watson may be trading in her wizard’s wand for a glass slipper.
The Hollywood buzz has it that Emma Watson is in early talks with The Walt Disney Studio to play Cinderella in the live adaptation of the fairy tale directed by Kenneth Branagh. Cate Blanchett has already been cast to play the wicked stepmother.
Walt Disney Studios hopes to capture on their latest successes of live adaptations of well known fairy tales. Recently Disney has had success with Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland“, is about to release Sam Raimi’s “Oz: The Great and Powerful“ and is banking on Angelina Jolie to bring out the Sleeping Beauty fans with the film “Maleficent” due out in July of 2014.
Disney hopes to begin production of Cinderella sometime this fall and release the film at some point in 2014. Disney is not commenting on the talks between them and Watson.
Since the “Harry Potter” films have wrapped Watson has received kudos for her role in “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” and has also been working on other films.
