Disney’s The Lion King opened on Broadway 1997 and brings to life the animated film about our favorite lion cub, Simba. Growing up with best friend, Nala and the tempermental hornbill, Zazu, Simba enjoys many adventures in the African Serengeti. The death of Simba’s father, Mufasa puts Uncle Scar in charge and sends Simba off on new adventures where he meets, Pumba and Timon. But problems with the pride, bring the trio back to take care of Scar and reclaim Simba’s rightful spot as King. With an incredible soundtrack by Sir Elton John and Tim Rice full of original songs, The Lion King is an unforgettable show full of vibrant costumes and top notch performances, The Lion King is one of my all time favorites. With over 6,700 performances, the success of The Lion King in the #1 spot as highest grossing Broadway show is well deserved.
