Disney World Souvenir Mug with handles returning

wdw

You might remember when we reported last month that Disney removed the handles from their Walt Disney World Resort Souvenir Mugs. Guest were outraged as many families used those handles to carry multiple drinks back to the room at the end of the day.

We are receiving word that due to public outcry the handled mugs will be making a coming back!

There is no official word when these mugs will be coming back, just that they will be returning soon.

Some resorts at Walt Disney World never even sold out of their stock of handled mugs so you might see both mugs available till the handle-less mugs sell out.

If it were me I would offer both mugs to fans as I would love one without a handle for in my car and then a handled mug for when we are at the parks, but that is just me…

So which mug design do you like better? Let us know in the comment box below.

  1. I was just there mid August and we had handles on our mugs. I have to say though that the mugs got smaller in size over the years. When we first started going as a family in 1999, the mugs were fatter and held more. Kind of like the size of a beer mug. Now you pay more for them and they hold less. I also agree with other comments that there should be a system that allows to reprogram old mugs to reuse them instead of collecting so many at home you don’t have space for them all. I think that’s an awesome idea! Charge a “small” reprogramming fee to use the old mugs during your next stay. I would do it in a heartbeat!

  2. Absolutely agree! They should be able to be reprogrammed! They take up way too much room, it is wasteful to keep having to get another of the same plastic mug when you’ve got one that’s usable ( and to be honest, they are too cheaply made to be of much use at home anyway- they are not leak proof, tip over too easily, are too lightweight, can’t be put in the dishwasher, lids don’t work that well, and they don’t keep hot drinks hot for long.)

  3. As a cast member that works between 5 resorts I can tell you that they never got rid of the handles on the souvenir mugs

  4. I like the mugs that can be reprogrammed for a discounted price and then subsequently reused again and again…..Oh wait, those don’t exist. 🙂 I’ve had to start leaving mine behind when I check out, because I don’t have anymore room at home. It’s such a waste and a place where Disney needs to rethink for recycling purposes.

  5. So happy they are bringing the handles back. Hopefully when we get there in 3 days our resort will still have handled mugs. I personally think they should give the handle ones away and get rid of them fast since its obvious people want the handles. In fact, I’m gonna ask if I can have one of each. I would like one without a handle for my car, I never use the handled ones back home. In fact we stopped bringing them home about 2 trips ago. The worst they could say is no.

  6. I’m the same way. Like the handles when I’m there but not crazy about them at home. Luckily my car has a cup holder that will fit it w/ said handle
