Plans started to takes shape as far back as 2015 which would lead to the eventual closing of DisneyQuest and the development of a new NBA-focused attraction dubbed the NBA Experience. With the project expected to be completed in the Summer of 2019, Disney today shared a sneak peek at some of the concept art for Disney Springs’ newest attraction.
The architecture of the building will be styled after the modern NBA arenas found around the country as a way of conveying the energizing spirit of the sport while making it an identifiable Disney landmark. The new state-of-the-art space will include interactive games, competitions, a retail store, restaurant and immersive experiences that will put guests in the heart of the NBA action.
Maribeth Bisinere, Senior Vice President of Disney Springs and ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex had this to say about the project, ” We are inspired by the design of the new building and the energy that it will bring to the West Side of Disney Springs,”
NBA President, Global Partnerships Sal LaRocca, also had this to say about the NBA Experience, “This one-of-a-kind experience is sure to be enjoyed by basketball and Disney fans of all ages who visit Disney Springs from around the world.”
