Two of Disney’s biggest cult classic 90’s films are finally heading to blu-ray! This year has seen Disney really reaching back into their vault and releasing quite a few of their catalog titles, much to the surprise and happiness of many movie fans. I think it’s also safe to say that these two new titles are surely to make some very happy. First up, we have Tim Burton’s Academy Award winning film ‘Ed Wood’, a biopic about the infamous director who made terrible films, including ‘Plan 9 From Outer Space’. The film stars Johnny Depp, Bill Murray, Martin Landau, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Patricia Arquette. It’s one of my all time favorite Burton films, because it was one of his biggest works of love. While some liberties about Wood’s life were taken, it never distracts from the overall film. It’s also shot in black and white, making it that much more vintage and wonderful to watch. This is one I’ve been really looking forward to landing on blu-ray, so I’m definitely excited to see it finally happening. Hit the jump for info on ‘Judge Dredd’, and trailers for both films.

Now we come to ‘Judge Dredd’, a cheesy and ridiculous, but fun take on the comic character Judge Dredd from the comic series ‘2000 A.D.’. While it’s not the best interpretation on the character, I still enjoy it. The movie is really just a Stallone movie where he pretends to be Dredd, but because he’s Stallone, we don’t really even see him wear the helmet because we have to see his face. But for me, it’s never had an effect on how much I enjoy the film. It’s an over the top action film that is really fun to watch. Stallone chews up the scenery in only a way he could, and the film also stars Diane Lane, Max Van Sydow, and Rob Schneider. It’s not the world’s best movie, but I’m so excited to check it out again on blu-ray and relive the over the top movie that I remember from my childhood.

No word yet on the details of special features for the disc, but I can hope there’s a few special features added on. Both titles will be landing on blu-ray September 18, 2012. What say you, Chip and Co. readers? Are you guys excited for either of these titles to get the high def treatment? Let me know in the comments below! And check out the trailers for both films here.
