There are TONS of amazing Disney World Restaurants to choose from, and you could literally spend days researching and planning which ones you are going to make your ADR’s (or Advance Dining Reservations) for.

If you’re looking for a place to eat dinner at the Magic Kingdom, I highly recommend you make an ADR at Liberty Tree Tavern. You’ll find this New England colonial style Inn at Liberty Square, and as an added bonus you can turn this meal into a mini history lesson for you and your family!

The restaurant is divided up into 6 historically themed rooms, each named after an important figure in American history: Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, John Paul Jones, Paul Revere, Betsy Ross, and George Washington.

LTT Color

Once you check in and are waiting for your table, feel free to do some coloring with the fun themed pages and crayons provided. If coloring isn’t your thing, then take some time to wander through each of the 6 rooms to check out the artifacts and see if you can figure out how the relate to the American heros they represent!

Once you are seated, you will be presented with the menu, which isn’t so much a list of choices, as this is a ‘family style all you care to enjoy meal’, meaning a set menu of items is brought out to you on platters, and the best part? You can request as much of it all as you want! The meal starts off with rolls, butter, and salad, and it isn’t long before your main courses of turkey, roast beef and pork are brought out, accompanied by stuffing, mashed potatoes with gravy, macaroni and cheese, and seasonal vegetables. The food is nothing fancy, but it is delicious and definitely reminds me of a family Thanksgiving or Christmas meal, warm and plentiful, and best of all tasty!

If you have any room left for dessert, you will be treated to a warm “Jonny Appleseed” cake filled with craisins and apples and topped with vanilla ice cream. Dessert can vary here for dinner, sometimes its a crisp or cobbler, but its usually fruity, warm, and topped with ice cream (yum!)

If you can’t snag a dinner ADR here, check out their lunch offerings – as Liberty Tree Tavern also serves up an ala carte lunch, featuring pot roast, burgers, and the Pilgrims Feast (Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and vegetables). An Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake for dessert rounds out this perfect lunch, and then you’re full and ready to tackle those rides again!

LTT Old

Little known fact – Liberty Tree Tavern actually used to have characters at dinner time! Colonial Mickey and Minnie would mingle with guests as they enjoyed their feast, and while they may no longer have characters, they still have the feast – and what a delicious feast it is!

Have you tried Liberty Tree Tavern for Dinner? How about for Lunch? What did you think?

  1. We were fortunate enough to catch dinner here when the characters returned briefly in February 2010. (TCP was being renovated I believe) This dinner is fantastic! We will be returning in June 2013. 🙂

  2. Based on how most people relate the Liberty Tree Tavern to a Thanksgiving meal, we ate there on Thanksgiving for our dinner! It was crowded but the food was still delicious.
