Walt Disney World

After months of speculation, we can finally confirm that a gondola system is coming to Walt Disney World! The system will link six stations with three lines between Hollywood Studios, Epcot, Caribbean Beach Resort, and the lake area between Pop Century and Art of Animation Resorts.

Disney and the The Reedy Creek Improvement District released documents today that confirm the system will indeed become a reality.

Disney declined to answer any questions but did release this statement: “We are always looking to explore new transportation options that will make the resort experience even more magical for guests. We’re excited about our future plans on this front and look forward to sharing details at a later date.”

Disney tried to keep the project as secretive as possible and actually referred to it as the “Italian Job.” However, details about the system started emerging back in February. Disney soon realized that the public permits filed for the system where at a high risk of being pulled by the public which probably lead to the documents that were released by the Reedy Creek Improvement System today.

The documents released indicate that each gondola will hold be able hold a maximum of ten guests. It is assumed that the gondolas will be enclosed per other popular active systems. The system will be built and designed by European gondola manufacturer The Doppelmayr/Garaventa Group.

  1. I think this will be a much faster system than taking the buses from farther resort locations to the most distant parks. The process will be tested and streamlined and efficiently run as most things Disney are run. This system will not need to match the bus time; it will have to exceed the bus system and by a lot to be a huge success!

  2. They need to be quick or they will be a waste of development. It needs to match the bus time from stop to stop.
