The Complete Walt Disney World 2015: The Definitive Disney Handbook.
I’ve been a fan of Julie and Mike Neal’s Walt Disney World guide books for many years, so I was very excited to be given the chance to recently review the newest guidebook from the Neal’s. I could not wait to see the updates to the long awaited guidebook. This newest additional has 555 color photos, and features the most in-depth details about the theme parks, Disney Resorts, and Disney restaurants than any other travel book that I have seen.
The Complete Walt Disney World 2015 guidebook is packed with reviews as well as detailed descriptions of every Disney ride, every Disney show, the Disney restaurant’s, and all of the Disney resorts on property. If you love the history or details about Walt Disney World then this is the book for you.
The guidebook starts with tidbits about each area that makes up what is known as the Walt Disney World Resort. Next we visit one of my favorite parts of the guidebook the “Best bets.” An example of the best bets would be the best thrill ride, best toddler attraction or best firework show.
If you haven’t been to Walt Disney World in the last few years then the “What’s new” section is a must read! Walt Disney is known for constantly changing or updating and I’m sure a few of these listed are new to your family. Even since the press release of this book things have since changed, and I’m sure will be updated in next year’s guidebook. They also go over the newest, and most talked about update, Disney’s MyMagic+ system. If you are not sure what this is or would like more details then defiantly take a peek at this section. They did a great job explaining everything you need to know about this newest system.
The main core of the guidebook is the details of each of the 4 Disney theme parks, both of the water parks, Downtown Disney, the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex, and the Resort accommodations at Walt Disney World in Orlando. In each section you will find a quick overview, details on each restaurant in the park or area, the different shops with their current locations, details on the different street performers as well as the Characters, and last but not least in-depth details about all of the attractions. My favorite part is the fun facts or secrets which are listed for most of the attractions. You will also find tips, key facts, and Hidden Mickey’s located in or near the attraction. I love the history of the rides, and even though I know all about them I still find myself reading this section over and over.
The Complete Walt Disney World 2015 also has a complete list of all the Disney Characters in the “Character Guide” section in the back of the book. If your little one just has to meet Mickey or my favorite Donald Duck then you will want to check out this section for more details.
To finalize the guidebook you will find a “Walt Disney World A-Z” section which alphabetically details all the features that were not covered in the other sections. For example, details about air transportation, the different special events like Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, ticket and dining plan options, and on-site recreational activities.
About the author: A former Walt Disney World concierge supervisor, Julie spent over 2,500 days at Walt Disney World, not counting her time working there. For research of this year’s book she spent every single day for a totally of three months on the Disney property, and is a real expert on navigating around Walt Disney World. Julie’s husband Mike not only designed the book, but most of the wonderful color photographs included in the book is his work. While Julie is off riding one of her favorite thrill rides like Expedition Everest, you can find Mike quietly watching the street performers. The couple lives in Orlando with their daughter, Micaela who helps with the family business when she has time from school at Florida State. Julie has a passion for animal rights, so I’m not surprised that their family pet, Oliver is a cuddly rescue dog.
