Birthdays are fun to celebrate no matter where you are, but in my opinion there is nowhere better to celebrate than Walt Disney World. Celebrating a birthday at Disney was a dream of mine for years, and last year I was able to do just that. It was so much fun! There are so many special ways to celebrate a birthday at Walt Disney World.

To start your birthday celebration, be sure to pick up a free birthday button from Guest Services. Be sure to wear your button each day throughout your vacation to let cast members and other guests know you’re celebrating. You might be surprised by all of the special attention you’ll receive. Many guests and cast members wished me a happy birthday as I walked past them. The cast member standing outside Columbia Harbour House even sang a cute Happy Birthday song to me!

In addition to your birthday button, be sure to let cast members know of your celebration when booking all of your dining reservations. You never know what special surprises they might add to make your celebration extra magical. Many of the table service restaurants will bring out a birthday cupcake or other dessert to help celebrate. Please keep in mind there is no guarantee you will receive anything free for your celebration, as the cast members are not required to give out birthday freebies.

Disney also offers several special fireworks experiences which would be a great addition to any  birthday celebration. You could enjoy dessert as you take in the stunning fireworks at the Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Party. Similarly, the new IllumiNations Sparkling Dessert Party at Epcot would also provide a phenomenal birthday celebration as you take in the fireworks and cultures of the World Showcase countries.

If you’d prefer a more unique experience for your celebration, consider watching the Magic Kingdom or Epcot fireworks spectaculars from the water. Disney offers specialty cruises for both Wishes and IllumiNations. The cruises can accommodate up to 8 or 10 guests and also include dining. You can even request a birthday cruise, complete with cake!

  1. Last year 4 weeks before my sister’s birthday she tells me she wants to wake up in Disney World on her birthday. Believe it or not, we were able to get the hotel we wanted (AKL) and the flight times we preferred. To top it all off, I was able to get us reservations at the Tomorrowland Terrace Fireworks Dessert Party on her birthday. My sister loves sweets so there was no better way to celebrate than a buffet of many different kinds of desserts. It was a whirlwind time, but it was great. Hoping to celebrate mine there in 2016!

  2. I usually spend my birthday (July 16) at WDW. Being an Annual Passholder is ALWAYS a plus in my book. It was a little off this year, since I started a new job and had to work on my birthday. Hoping I can get next year’s birthday off and stay in my usual celebration mode. I get my birthday button and get the “royal treatment.” WDW is the Best place for a birthday celebration!

  3. For my birthday, a few friends and I ate at Cinderella’s Royal Table. We loved it! We had a later dinner, and had the opportunity of watching Wishes from the window! What a magical evening! 🙂

  4. I, too, have had the life-long dream of celebrating my birthday at Disney and that dream is coming true in November! We are going to Magic Kingdom during my birthday day and to Hoop Dee Doo Revue in the evening. So excited!
