Cars Land no longer coming to Disney World

Cars

Hiya!! It’s me again, Anonymouse!! You haven’t really had much of a chance to miss me lately. I have been a busy little bee rounding up all of the good gossip for you. Admit it, you know love my gossip?

Well fellow Disney Addicts I have some not so magical news. Cars Land will not be coming to Disney World, (Insert sad face here). I was hoping the rumors that have been swirling around were true but it turns out Disney has changed their minds. So it looks like if you want to experience Cars Land  you will have to make the trek to Disneyland.

Usually the new plans for the parks are released at D23 but there was nothing this year. All that was said was Avatar Land and “Project Harvest Orange” otherwise known as Star Wars Land, that is still under development in Hollywood Studios. I am sure Chippy will be geeking out there quite a bit! As for me I will definitely skip it.

Now we all know Disney can throw some money at the Cars Land development for Disney World if they really, really wanted it to happen. However they are like any other business and they have to prioritize what funds go where.

I think that Disney likes to keep some things specific to certain parks. Which is what makes them the marketing geniuses that we all know they are!!

I am not too happy about this, how do you feel about it? Are you atleast excited for Star Wars Land? Let me know in the comment box below.

Anonymouse searches the internet, annoys cast members, and wouldn’t think twice about using a Ouija board to find you the freshest Disney Gossip. Some of what she’ll report is confirmed, some is based on information from the rumor mill, and some, frankly, she just read on the bathroom wall in Fantasyland. So take it with a grain of salt and have fun!

  1. im so sad about Cars Land!! Well, I have never been to California, so I guess at some point I will have to book and pay for a secret trip and then spring it on my husband (who said no more Disney for a couple years).

  2. I’m okay, I suppose, with Carsland staying at DL only. Like you said, park specific things make money for Disney.
However, I DO NOT want Avatar at any Disney park!! 😛 NO AVATAR!!!!
I’m not a Star Wars fan like some, but I’m not opposed to a Star Wars Land. My son might like it when he gets older, and I have some clients who are big Star Wars fans!

  3. I am thinking Avatar Land is the bad business decision. Love the idea of Star Wars and Cars Land, but Avatar, really???

  4. I’d still prefer Beastly Kingdom to Avatar Land, personally. That’s no disrespect to the director od Avatar in any way, either. I just think that it would enhance Animal Kingdom moreso, with the final land, recognizing the third avenue of Animal Kingdom…the imagenary. As for Cars Land, I can understand it being strictly there in California. After viewing the area online, a lot of it is similar to TestTrack at EPCOT…just in a different packaging. How about doing the “Door Library” coaster from Monsters, Inc.?

  5. Ditch AvatarLand!! Bring on CarsLand. I would never even visit Avatarland, since I’ve never watched the movie and never ever plan to in my entire life. Cars though? I would be all over that! 😀

  6. NOBODY wants Avatarland!!!! StarWars Land is great, and certainly needed, but they NEED something like Carsland (Maybe a more generic “Pixar Land”) to make HS a more family friendly park!

  7. Star Wars & Avatar were really cool and I’m excited to see them both! I live in So cal and I think that the cars land main exciting ride is like test track in WDW so I guess it would make sense to me if they did cancel their plans for Cars Land out there. Plus you gotta give people a reason to go to both places. 😀

  8. Awe sad 🙁 I would love to see Cars Land come to WDW. As for Star Wars, I am not a fan but I know there are fans out there; so let them enjoy!

  9. I can’t wait for Star Wars Land. I don’t mind Cars Land not coming to WDW. It gives DCA something special and give me a reason to head west.

  10. Doesn’t mean it’s NOT coming if there was no announcement at D23. We don’t know for sure until Disney makes an announcement one way or another.

It wouldn’t make sense to not do it since Cars Land is very big in DL and WDW is a much more popular destination for international guests as opposed to DL (not to mention the millions upon millions of people in the U.S. that live within a days’ drive of Orlando.)

  11. It’s funny. I just heard about this rumor over the weekend and heard that it’s not true; Cars Land is coming to DHS from a CM that is working on the project. Again, this is just as much a rumor as the above, but sounds like we’re hearing both sides of the story from CMs.

  12. Since I was somehow banned from commenting on the FB page, I will here.

Not a huge loss, I won’t mind not having all those other silly attractions that accompanied the showpiece attraction. But always felt Cars was very overrated, Star Wars, if done properly, with an adequate budget, would give them much more mileage.

Let’s hope they don’t go cheap and it is on par with what Universal did with Harry Potter
