Brown Derby Lounge Officially Opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

Brown Derby Lounge officially opened its doors on 10/30/13 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios , and I was there to join in the celebration! I was chosen to cut the ribbon to open this new concept restaurant. Brown Derby Lounge is an appetizer, cocktail, and dessert restaurant. The menu consists of tapas sized appetizers such as Duck confit tacos and the Derby Sliders (one Wagyu Beef, and one homemade Chorizo). The menu also has multiple drink options including multiple flight options as well as great desserts such as the Strawberry Champagne Cheesecake which is also pictured below.

I had a chance to sit down with Craig, the head chef of the Brown Derby and Brown Derby Lounge to talk to him about the menu. He stated that the menu as we see it now is not set in stone, however he wants to get to know the customers and see what they want to have on the menu. When asked about traditional items such as the Cobb Salad coming to the lounge Craig said those items could be ordered in the lounge, but they wanted to go for a totally new menu to give guests a new twist on the Brown Derby without compromising the quality and taste that guest come to love about the iconic restaurant.

The actual lounge is located both inside (when there is overflow space available from the restaurant) and outside on the patio.  There are no reservations accepted in the lounge, and no other discounts other than Tables in Wonderland will be accepted. The lounge will be open from Noon until park closing daily. I absolutely loved the food, atmosphere, and overall concept of this lounge! It’s nice to see a new take on a classic restaurant, and I hope this is a pilot for other amazing restaurants on Walt Disney World property.
