CNBC is reporting that if the Disney merger with Twenty-First Century Fox corporation comes to fruition then Disney CEO Bob Iger is likely to remain with the company to make sure the merger is completed in a seamless manner.
The possible merger was reported last week with the companies now close to finalizing the terms of the deal. The merger would include many Twenty-First Century Fox properties like Star, Fox’s Nat Geo, stakes in Sky and Hulu, movie studios, and regional sports networks. Fox properties not part of this merger would include Fox Sports, Fox’s news and business news divisions and its broadcast network.
Back in early October of this year, Bob Iger had officially announced that he would step down from his role when his contract expires in mid-2019. It would make sense that Disney would want to keep Iger on through this potential merger. During his tenure, Iger has overseen the acquisitions of Pixar, Marvel, and Lucasfilm. More than likely he would remain at Disney for two to three years after finalizing a deal.
