It’s no secret that the Downtown Disney area is under a complete remodel which is slowly transforming the Downtown Disney area into what is soon to be known as Disney Springs set for completion in 2016. During this construction Disney has released some exciting new information about Disney’s future of “The Landing” (formally known as Pleasure Island) bringing some promising new dining concepts to Disney Springs including the new restaurant location “The Boathouse” which is set for completion in 2015.
The Boathouse
The Boathouse Restaurant is a new 22,000 sq ft dining experience and is currently set to be one of the very first completed restaurants for the new Disney Springs construction “The Landing” which is a part of Phase 1 of the project set to debut in 2015. This restaurant location is currently much further along in construction than the other 2 upcoming restaurants for Disney Springs so it seems like we may be sampling some of it’s outstanding dishes sooner than we expected.
The BoatHouse is currently an existing restaurant brand operated in Vancouver, BC which offers delicious fresh, local, wild and sustainable seafood items, mouth watering steaks and more. You can checkout their website and menu items here. We estimate that the prices will be a bit more upscale but that families and couples alike will enjoy dining at this new and exciting Disney Springs Restaurant Location.
The Boathouse is located on the river just between Paradso 37 and Raglan Road. With the permit for The Boathouse being signed by Steven Schussler who also brought us other favorites such as, “T-Rex Cafe”, “The Rainforest Cafe” at Downtown Disney, and the “Yak and Yeti” Restaurant located in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. This helps us get an idea of what we can expect from this new restaurant location.
Rumor has it that Mr. Schussler has also done extensive research on an amazing invention called the Amphicar.
Amphicars
What is an Amphicar? Looking at the concept art of The Boathouse above, you will notice that there are car-like boats floating outside and all around the restaurant’s breathtaking water view property. These innovative water vehicles seem to closely resemble the 1960’s style car that can travel by both land and sea. Are these vehicles as versatile as the 1960 Amphibious models or will they simply serve as fancy water transportation to get around Disney Springs and such restaurants as The Boathouse? Only time will tell.
Making it’s Disney Debut
Will the Amphicar be making it’s debut before Disney Springs opening? It is rumored that these amazing vehicles will be available to hire by guests even before the Disney Springs construction completion, possibly giving you a “back-stage” view of the construction process and the new exciting sights, sounds and flavors coming to the new Disney Springs in 2015.
What do you think that the new Boathouse Restaurant will bring to ‘the table’ for Disney Springs? Are you excited about the new Amphicar concept? Leave us a message below we love to hear from you.
