Add The Captain's Pineapple To Your List of Must-try Adult Beverages For Your Disney Vacation

When you are in planning mode for a Walt Disney World vacation do the words “Dole Whip” fit into that equation?  There is something about the Dole Whip that just speaks Disney to us.  We were excited to discover that the Art of Animation’s poolside bar, The Drop Off, is now featuring an adult beverage that tastes exactly like the infamous Dole Whip.  You will certainly want to add the Captain’s Pineapple to your list of must-tries during your next visit to the Walt Disney World Resort.

You can find the Captain’s Pineapple hanging out at the The Drop Off; a poolside bar on the grounds of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. The bar itself is outdoors, and not within the enclosed area of the Big Blue Pool.  Therefore, anyone can stop by to enjoy a Captain’s Pineapple.

The Captain’s Pineapple is not listed on the menu so you have to either know that it exists, or see the sign beside the swirling beverage machines sporting this fabulous concoction of Pineapple Soft-serve and Captain Morgan’s Original Spiced Rum.

This decadent beverage tastes exactly like a Dole Whip!  The Captain’s Pineapple goes down a little too smooth and it is easy to feel like you can have at least two.  There is a 2 drink per person maximum on alcoholic beverages.  If you are staying at Disney’s Art of Animation that is a great idea.  However, if you drove yourself to The Drop Off, this will not be such a great idea unless you plan to stay for a while!

We had a Little One in our party so we headed inside Disney’s Art of Animation to the Landscape of Flavors Food Court to get her a Pineapple Paradise Smoothie.  This did not turn out as well as we had anticipated.  Pineapple Paradise is not even close to tasting like a Dole Whip and it certainly did not taste like Paradise either.  Our Little One stated that it tasted like the medicine she had, and did not like, when she had an ear infection last year.  After tasting it ourselves, we had to agree that it was a lightly pineapple flavored version of Amoxicillin.  Therefore, the Little One decided to get a Peeps Cupcake and a cup of ice water instead.  She may have talked one of us into getting a Carrot Cupcake as well.

The Captain’s Pineapple is pure bliss.  You can find similar beverages at the Boardwalk’s Margarita Joes and Tamu Tamu Refreshments in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.  Epcot features Dole Whip and Rum at their Flower & Garden Festival as well as their International Food & Wine Festival.  We love that you can sit an umbrella table and relax a bit with your drink at The Drop Off.  If you love Dole Whip then you may want to add Captain’s Pineapple to your list of must-try adult beverages during your next Walt Disney World vacation.
